Cookie policy – Nzsolebookie

Few technical tools are needed to publish pages about betting with TAB NZ, and this policy lists them. A cookie is a small text file saved by a browser on a device; local and session storage entries and counting pixels behave in a similar way and are treated alike.

Privacy Act 2020

Where such tools collect personal information, the Privacy Act 2020 applies, through its information privacy principles (section 22). Collection has a lawful purpose tied to running the site (IPP 1), and the person is told what is collected and why (IPP 3). Reasonable security safeguards guard the information (IPP 5), it is not kept longer than needed (IPP 9), and disclosure outside New Zealand follows IPP 12. A choice offered in the cookie banner can be altered whenever wished.

Necessary files

The site cannot run reliably without these: they hold a session open, share load between servers, shield forms from abuse and store the cookie choice itself. No separate choice precedes them. Session files lapse when the browser closes, and the stored choice lasts at most twelve months.

Functional and analytics files

Functional files remember settings, such as the comparison tables opened most recently. Analytics files count page views and show which pages are read, which guides improvements. Both kinds are set only once the banner choice has been made. IP addresses are shortened before analysis, and no profile following behaviour across different sites is built.

Files from other parties

Embedded outside content, such as videos or maps, can set files of its own, and the privacy rules of that provider then also apply; objections go to the provider. Nzsolebookie sets no advertising cookies for personalised ads without a clear choice in the banner.

Changing or withdrawing a choice

The "Cookie settings" link in the footer lets a choice be changed or withdrawn at any moment, and withdrawal works for the future. Browsers also allow blocking and deleting cookies in their own privacy settings. Once necessary files are deleted the banner returns, and some features may briefly stop working.

Complaints

A complaint about how personal information is handled goes to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The privacy policy of this site explains the handling in more detail.
